Sylvia passed away quietly in her home on May 4, 2021. A memorial service will be Friday May 14, 2021 at 11 AM at the First United Methodist Church at 523 S 8th St, Aransas Pass, TX 78336.

Sylvia Louise Runte Everett was born August 21, 1942 in Rockford, Illinois to Elwin Clifford Runte and Leora Frances Harter Runte. She moved to Texas at a young age where she attended and graduated from Burgess High School in El Paso, Texas. Sylvia then attended the University of Texas El Paso where she attained her Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in History and an English minor. She went on to attend Texas Woman’s University where she continued to study English and History adding Dance to her studies. Sylvia married William “Bud” Everett in 1963 and began her teaching career in North Carolina in 1965. They later moved and lived where Bud was stationed in the Army. She taught in El Paso, Sierra Blanca, Marble Falls, and Aransas Pass, Texas where she taught French, History, Drama and English for many years. She ended her teaching career teaching, her favorite subject U.S. History in 2015 at Aransas Pass High School. She was the One-Act Play Director for many years bringing many students out of their shells to excel as thespians. She also supported many of her student athletes as she could be found working the scorer’s table at volleyball and basketball games, as well as being the cheerleader sponsor attending football games.

Sylvia was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Aransas Pass since moving there in 1979. She was a member of the Methodist Women’s Group and volunteered at the Blessing Shop for many years.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Elwin and Leora, her husband Bud, her brothers Everett D. Runte and Marvin K. Runte, sister and brother-in-law Luella and Jerry Beltran, nephew Clifford Arthur Runte and niece Mary Baker and great niece Rachel Niederstadt.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Paul Andrew Everett and Wife Kim, grandchildren Jared (Heather), Ryan, Trevor (Brittany), and Kaylee all of Fountain, Colorado and her daughter Phyllis Lynn Bown of Aransas Pass and grandchildren Leslie Hegner (Chris), Joseph Bown (Leslie), Melynda Bown, Samuel Bown all of Las Vegas, Nevada, Theresa Bown (Stephen) and Hailee Bown of Aransas Pass: 14 great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Mary Helen Runte and Shirley Runte, as well as many friends and teaching colleagues.
