Port Aransas

Ronald “Ronnie” Revell, 88, of Port Aransas was born in St. Petersburg, FL on October 6th, 1934 to Russell and Eugenia Revell and passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of January 31st, 2023.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his loving wife Lillian to whom he was married for over 20 years. Ronnie was the youngest of all his siblings and was preceded in death by his father Russell, his mother Eugenia, his brother Clifford, his sister Sally, his brother Jerry and his son Jimmy. He is survived by his brother Walter “Bo” Revell, children Yancy Gillespie (Lynn), Anna Gillespie, Elbert Gillespie, James Revell (Teresa), eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and even a few great-great-grandchildren.

Ronnie’s highest level of formal education was a high school diploma. Although, he often referred to his life lessons learned from his time in the Army, time spent as a Merchant Marine, and many years working in various careers and jobs along the way. Ronnie retired from the University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, TX where he spent nearly 20 years as a carpenter. Prior to the university, he was a homebuilder, carpenter, owned a shrimp boat, and he also spent time as a plumber. During his retirement, Ronnie built “Funk-Sha-Nul” furniture, which he sold from his front yard, including picnic tables, adirondack chairs, and pretty much anything else someone might want him to make for them.

Ronnie was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer in his later years. For many years, he made the trek to New Mexico to hunt mule deer with numerous friends he made during his time at UTMSI. He never passed on an opportunity to go fishing with anyone who asked. The only cost of fishing with Ronnie was that you would be regaled with some of his colorful and humorous stories and anecdotes. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Port Aransas VFW #8967 in Ronnie's name would be appreciated.
