Robert Lee Toups was born on June 11, 1944 to Joseph Lynes Toups and Louise Touchette Toups. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2019, in Fulton, TX surrounded by his wife and dear friends, following a lengthy illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Louis Parchman, and infant sibling, his brother Joe Toups, and his infant child.

Robert graduated from Nederland High School in 1962. He then proudly served in the US Navy, seeing many places he would not have seen otherwise. One of his precious gifts was a portrait he had made in Italy of his sister, Marie, one of the main loves in his life. He also had a deep love for his mother and brought her to his home prior to her passing. He enjoyed and loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed attending Church, Catholic Mass, planting and maintaining their flower beds and Prayer Garden and listening to Country music. He attended Lamar University and earned his Engineering degree which he later used working for Olin Refinery, Equistar, and Lyondell. He retired from Lyondell Chemical Co.

Robert also enjoyed traveling, in 2013 he married his soulmate and wife who took care of him during his lengthy illness. Together and with friends they traveled to Arizona, Florida, Branson, MO, and also enjoyed time in Galveston, TX.

He is survived by his wife and soulmate Beverly Toups, of Fulton, TX: his sons, Michael Wayne Toups, of DeRidder, LA; Aaron Toups and wife Alison, of Lake Charles, LA; Brian Paul Toups and wife Kathryn, of Lake Charles, LA. Stepsons, Brian Thomas, of Warsaw, MO; Jared Thomas and wife Sharon, of Smithville, MO; Grandchildren, Hunter Toups, Ryleigh Toups, Madeline Toups, Alec Toups, Tabatha Nicole Smith, Trevor Brice Thomas, Jace Thomas, Lily Grace Thomas, and Cole William Thomas. Great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Rae Smith and Teagan Marie Smith. Sister, Marie Toups Deese and husband Jack, of Nederland, TX; Half-Sister, Elizabeth Parchman Chambers and husband Don, of Florence, TX and Brother, John Wayne Parchman and wife Linda, of Florence, TX; Special Brother, Brad Wendling and wife Connie, of Humble, TX. Several nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends and persons he considered family.

Thanks go out to Michelle Cervantes Baites, Lowell Baird and the staff at Angel Bright for the care they gave.

A memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00a.m.  Friday, June 7, 2019 at St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Ave., Nederland, TX.
