Obituary

Kenneth Harvey Spaulding, 88, passed away peacefully with a few family members by his side on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Ken was born in Napa, CA on September 10, 1933 to Ellen Mickelson and Oscar Spaulding. Ken had three children of his own, Sheila, Bradley, and Lori. He served 20 years in the Air Force and traveled all over the world with his family in tow. They lived in various places, including Okinawa, California, Idaho, Florida, and Texas. When he retired, he joined his son Bradley and his family in Rockport, TX. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, reading novels, and cheering/bemoaning the Dallas Cowboys. Most days you would find him playing or watching golf. He was quite proud of his 7 hole-in-ones. Ken was a devoted father and grandfather to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He kept up with their accomplishments, saved news clippings and photos, and was always eager to see them. His eyes twinkled the most when the kids were around.

Ken was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Ellen and Rudy Bosshard, his father Oscar, his sister Suzanne, and his son-in-law Terry Griffin. He is survived by his children, Sheila Griffin of Grand Prairie, TX, Bradley Spaulding of Rockport, TX, and Lori (Robert) McDowell of Lakewood, CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Stephanie (Nathan) Carruth of Ft. Worth, TX, Shannon (David) Spaulding of Stillwater, OK, Samantha (Enrique) Garza of McAllen, TX, Suzanne (Emmanuel) Lugo of San Antonio, TX, Stacey Janota of Sinton, TX, Sarah Spaulding of Corpus Christi, TX, Bradley Spaulding II of Austin, TX, Heather (Dion) Stroud of Grand Prairie, TX, Ryan Townsend of Lakewood, CA, Matthew (Crystal) Townsend of Lakewood, CA, and Ashley McDowell of Gold Bar, WA. He also has 21 great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
