Karen Elizabeth Peterson, 74, of Ingleside, TX, passed away on February 23, 2021. Karen was born October 26, 1946, in Corpus Christi, TX to John and Dorothy Grissom Henderson, who preceded her in death. Karen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Peterson; her children:  John Peterson (Kristi) of Shiner, Laura Swink (Bubba) of Cibolo, Matthew Peterson (Elaine) of Ingleside, Kurt Peterson of Ingleside, and Stephanie Gonzales of Corpus Christi; her grandchildren: Karyn Rode (Landon), Leah Swink (Jake Ferguson), Amber Peterson (Aaron Garza), Alyssa Peterson, Macy Gonzales, Sarah Swink, Ryan Peterson, Teagan Gonzales, Maia Peterson; sister Jane Wilson of Austin, brother John Henderson (Tess) of Manila, Philippines, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and she was a devoted Christian example to the people in her life.  She was a 2nd-grade teacher for Ingleside ISD for 28 years.  In addition, she taught many years of Vacation Bible School at various churches in the area.   Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially Caribbean cruises.  Her greatest pleasure was the annual Peterson Family Vacations that she planned and made shirts, hats, and koozies for, over the past nine years.  She also enjoyed sewing and embroidery, and she always had numerous projects going for her family members and friends.  She also had three special friends that she enjoyed spending time with Patti Kucera, Montie Spaulding, and Jean Irving.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, TX.  1st Presbyterian Church Bruce Goodlock officiating.  Services will be live-streamed through a link on the Funeral Home website.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
