Jose Deases, 82 passed away May 1, 2022. He was born July 28, 1939 in Brownsville, Texas to Eustaquio and Santos Guerra Deases.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jesusa Garcia.

Jose leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mary C. Deases; sons, Joe L. Deases (Dawn), Fred J. Deases (Edel), Michael A. Deases (Sylvia); sisters, Elida Alaniz (Al), Frances Gaona (Robert), Mary Peralez (Steve); four grandchildren, Jessica, Melynda, Andrew, Eilish and four great grandchildren.

Jose was a caring and kind husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was well respected by his peers and friends. He retired from American Petrofina Pipeline where he was a mechanic and cargo inspector for 28 years.

Jose dearly loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed calligraphy and was an avid historian. His family has located numerous journals with countless entries outlining his daily events. The family has enjoyed reading these aloud and sharing very fond memories. Jose was extremely proud of his accomplishments, especially enjoying his ranch in Refugio. He always stated that he never thought that a child born during the depression would ever own such a beautiful place. This is where he enjoyed to barbecue, listen to his favorite music and watch the abundant wildlife.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. with Holy Rosary recited by Deacon Art Provencio at 7:00p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home.
