John R. Bradshaw was born in Mansfield, Louisiana to Hugh E. and Elizabeth Bradshaw on October 9, 1934.  John graduated from Ouachita Parish High School (1952) in Monroe, Louisiana; attended King College, Bristol, Tennessee receiving the Bachelor of Arts Degree (1956); upon graduation from Columbia Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, he received the Bachelor of Divinity Degree (1959); and throughout his career completed continuing education courses at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Columbia Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and McCormick Theological Seminary.

In Denham Springs, Louisiana, John married Helen Gully on August 27, 1964.  Throughout their years together, Helen always was his constant companion, counsel, confidant, and love.

Ordained for Ministry of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian  Church, John served the St. Joseph and Waterproof Presbyterian Churches in Louisiana (1959-1963); First Presbyterian Church, Denham Springs, Louisiana (1963-1967); First Presbyterian Church, Homer, Louisiana (1967-1972); and First Presbyterian Church, Rockport, Texas  (1972-1989).  During these years, he served as president of several civic clubs, initiated and resourced community service organizations, equipped churches in goal setting, Christian Education, and administrative endeavors.  He also participated in the larger church through Presbyteries, Synods, and the Presbyterian General Assembly.

From 1989 until retirement in 2000, John joined the staff of consultants with Church Financial Campaign Service of The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  Although officed in the national Presbyterian Center in Louisville, Kentucky, he traveled throughout the United States enabling well over 100 congregations as they generated needed resources for building, budget, debt, and mission projects.

Minister, husband, father, grandfather, friend, John is survived by his wife, Helen; two daughters, Mary Scott (Mrs. Troy) Draper of Beeville, Texas and Jane (Mrs. Matt) Kovacs of Austin, Texas; one brother, Hugh Bradshaw (Johnetta) of Ennis, Texas; one sister, Beth (Mrs. Charles) Williams of Van Alstyne, Texas; and five grandchildren, Levi, Sarah and Thad Draper, and Alex and Jack Kovacs.
