Jimmie Woodward

1941 — January 1, 2020

Rockport

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Jimmie Lou Woodward, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched. Her favorite bible verse was Psalm 119:105 - “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”. She has followed his light home.

She left us while resting peacefully at her home in Rockport, Texas on Valentines Day, February 14th, 2020. She was 78 years old.

Jimmie Lou was born June 22, 1941 in Stockdale, Texas to mother Margaret Luker (Hemby) and father George Luker. She will be sorely missed and is survived by her husband Marshall Woodward, her sisters:  Peggy Gossett, Debbie Mills (Luker), Susan Earp (luker) and her brothers:  John Adams, Harvey Luker, James Luker, Billy Luker.  As well as her children:  Allen Stone, Cheryl Duran (Stone), Kevin Ferrell, and Jamie Foster (Richmond). She was preceded in death by her brothers George Luker, John Luker and sisters Nancy Luker, Kathy Hahn (Luker) and Mary Luker and loving son Jackie Ray Stone Jr.

Jimmie Lou was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Nana. She moved around a lot, but no matter where she went her children and grandchildren followed. In total she had five children, seventeen grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren. All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace, and undying love and care for them.

She was a master cook in the kitchen and could make a turkey sandwich taste as good as a steak, as long as you could overlook the press-on fingernail that she left inside. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh.

She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, interior designer, and florist. Being a florist she hated carnations, so please don’t send any. She was certainly a woman who knew what she wanted and was not afraid to ask.

She was an avid fisherman and would have loved this poem:

I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.

Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.

We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see,
Till we’re together you and me.

To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’
Just tell ‘em I’ve gone fishin’

- Dalmar Pepper

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
