Jackie “Jack” Dwayne Palmer 81, born April 26, 1940, was called home to our Lord on July 17, 2021, following a recent illness. Jack was born as the second to last of 8 children (Wilma, Dan, Alice, Elsie, June,) to John David “J” and Marian Palmer in Aransas Pass, Texas.

As a teenager, Jack would help run the projectors for the drive-in movie theater as he developed a love for old western movies and watching John Wayne. In 1958 at the age of 18, Jack married the love of his life, Wanda Jewel Cooper to whom he was married for 50 years before her passing in 2009. He and Wanda moved to Harper, Texas where he owned and operated a successful grocery store and meat market; honing his skills as a master butcher. After moving back down to Corpus Christi, Jack started work with HEB and happily retired as the meat market manager in 2000 after 20+ years of service. Jack and Wanda had 4 children (Michael, Diane, Cheryl, and Jack Jr.). Jack was an avid fisherman and known to most as a fish whisperer many would see him come back in from fishing always catching his limit of redfish. Jack was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan whose love and support never wavered since 1960. He loved going on hunting trips to Colorado, loved taking his family to their lake house in Mathis, and loved crab boils on the bay. Jack was the head of a large loving family whom he always hosted at his house for holidays, crab boils, Dallas football games, and birthdays.

He will be remembered for his smile, his kindness, and his wisdom by all who knew him.

Jack is survived by his brother Dan Palmer (Aransas Pass), 2 children: Diane Mitchell (Corpus Christi) & Duane Palmer (Aransas Pass), 6 grandchildren: Stephanie Summerfield (Aransas Pass), Matthew Mitchell (Corpus Christi), Amanda Summerfield (Port Aransas), Nicholas Mitchell (Portland), & Jack Duane Palmer III (San Antonio), 13 great-grandchildren (AJ, Shelby, Cody, Zander, Zayden, Zachary, Noah, Breanne, Makayla, CJ, Shawn, Jude, & Gavin).

He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, his son Michael, his daughter Cheryl Summerfield, his grandson Chris Summerfield, his brother Robert, his sisters Wilma, Alice, Emma, Elsie-lo, and June.
