Gail Cruz

Gail Ann Cruz was born in Brownsville, TX on January 21, 1953 and passed away peacefully at home in Rockport, TX on October 9, 2020 surrounded by her family. She grew up in Ingleside, TX and lived in Granbury, TX before returning to the Coastal Bend area in 2000.  Gail married the love of her life, Donald Ray Cruz II, on November 24, 1986.  They were blessed with 33 wonderful years of marriage, 1 daughter, and 2 granddaughters.

Gail’s joys in life were her family (especially her granddaughters which she affectionately referred to as her “girls”), gardening in her backyard, and the many animals she loved and cared for.  She had a heart for others, and would never pass up an opportunity to help those in need. Everyone who knew Gail loved her, especially her many cherished friends. Gail loved, laughed, and treasured all of her days. We will miss her dearly.

Gail is preceded in death by her loving parents, Max and Marie Heatherington.  She is survived by her husband, Donald Cruz; daughter, Dana Meartz (Jeremy); granddaughters, Ella and Annmarie Meartz; brother, Max Heatherington (Patty); sister, Sandra Carter (Chuck).
