Ernest Bodden, Jr.

Ernest L. “Buddy” Bodden, Jr., son of the late Ernest Bodden, Sr. and Frieda Vetter Bodden was born November 7, 1936 in Falls City, Texas. After completing high school he left Falls City, joined the Army Reserve and obtained a degree in accounting from St. Mary’s University.

In 1965, Ernie was united in holy matrimony to Betty June Roberts in San Antonio, Texas where they raised their family together. After many years of hard work, he and his wife retired to the small community of Rockport where he was active in his church as well as the Knights of Columbus.

Ernie enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, watching and talking football (Longhorn football in particular) and reveled in being a grandfather. Ernie was energetic, personable, friendly and talkative; he never met a stranger and made friends any and everywhere he went. He was generous and had a strong affinity for helping educate underprivileged youth as well as feeding the poor. He departed this life on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Morning Star Senior Living in Billings, Montana. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sylvia Mixon and Martha Hoffmann; and son, Richard (Dicky) Coffman.

His life will be cherished by those that survive him, his wife of 54 years, Betty (Roberts) Bodden; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Stephanie Bodden, and their children, Symantha, Sabrina, Tyler and Tanner; daughter, Nancy (Coffman) Pfeffer, her son, Chase Pfeffer and his wife and child, Karissa and Isley; brother-in-law, Robert (Bobby) Hoffmann; as well as nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 14,2019, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Rockport.

Interment to follow at Fall City Cemetery in Fall City, Texas.
