Ingleside, Texas

Edward Glenn Holt, 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior, November 28, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 2, 1925 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma to Maudie Dean and John Howard Holt.

Edward spent his childhood, full of many fond memories in Oklahoma, where he attended school, graduating from Antlers High. He loved to reminisce and share his incredible experiences. His love for music led him, and a few friends, to assemble a country and bluegrass band called Ed Holt and the Mountain Music Boys which he found much joy.

At the age of 18, he was drafted into the United States Navy, where he proudly served in Combat Air Services during World War II, CASU-12, on the Island of Guam. His love of country, patriotism & loyalty were unwavering. His time served in the military was the most profound experience of his life and the collection of stories he had to share are truly priceless.
Soon after Ed was discharged from the service, he met the love of his life, June Delores Miller at a little café in Portland, TX. After courting for about a year, they married and had four children. He was a dedicated husband & parent, fully supportive and present, never missing a moment.

He was proud of his role as the primary negotiator for the Steel Workers Union while employed at Alcoa in Point Comfort, TX. After considering a move back to South Texas to be near family, Ed took a position with Reynolds Metals Aluminum Co., in Ingleside where the family settled. After retirement, he then chose to re-enter the workforce as a part-time door greeter at Walmart where he enjoyed many new friendships and experiences. He was gifted a trip to Bentonville, AK as employee of year which he really appreciated.

Ed and June spent their years together traveling throughout the world. After visiting just about every state in the US, their journey led them to explore Europe, Canada and Mexico. His favorite vacation spot was the beautiful islands of Hawaii, which became their go to destination, where they traveled frequently.

Paw Paw loved his community. He enjoyed routine trips to Whataburger where he met up with his morning coffee friends, Ed Williams, Don Burns and Pete Perkins, for breakfast, coffee and a little town gossip. He supported local sports and loved those Ingleside Mustangs! He was an active member of North Bay Fellowship and held a firm faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, June Dolores Holt; son, James Howard Holt; two great-granddaughters, Kaleigh Paige Sheffield, Isabelle Jaimes Bloomquist; siblings, Eugene Holt, Stella Eliott, Beulah Sawyer, Aubrey Holt, Tina Everett, Jewel Blaylock and Roland Sawyer.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his children, Mary Sowers (Kim), Patricia Sheffield (Floyd), Gerald Glenn Holt, Katie Jones (Jim); 12 grandchildren, Patrick Jones, Shawna Hales, Shari Matula, Leah Carpenter, Matthew Sheffield, John Sheffield, Jeffrey Holt, Robert Holt, Mary Kay Jones, Rebecca Bell, Jack Jones, Elizabeth Bloomquist; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend, Roy Irwin.

Special thanks to his caregivers, Stephanie Holquin, Ginger Riddell, Debbie Petri and especially, Robert Figueroa for his dedication, compassion and kindness.
