Edward Raymond Hoffman, age (91), passed away 09, February, 2021 at home. Ed was born in Richmond Hills, Queens, NY on November 19, 1929.  He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hoffman, and his mother, Adelaide Hoffman.

Ed graduated from St. John’s Prep in Brooklyn, NY in 1948.  He went to work for Standard Vacuum Oil Company in New York City the same year.  While working, he attended St. John’s University and received his B.A. in Business Administration in 1954.  He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity and Delta Mu Delta Honorary Society.  He joined the Army in 1954 and served at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. for two years.  During that time, he attended George Washington University and received an M.B.A in Business Administration in 1956.

After the service, Ed continued his career with Standard Vacuum, which was a subsidiary of Mobil Oil, and transferred to Mobil in 1957.  With Mobil, in New York City, he proceeded through a series of supply and distribution assignments and in 1973 was named as General Manger of Crude Oil and Gas Liquids in the Supply, Distribution and Transportation Department, U.S. Marketing and Refining Division.  During those years he lived in West Nyack and White Plains, NY.

In 1978, he moved to Dallas, TX, after he was named President of Mobil Pipeline Company, which was headquartered in Dallas.  One of his major responsibilities was the completion of the construction of the crude oil pipeline in Saudi Arabia – one of the largest capacity crude oil pipeline systems in the world.  As President, he served as a Director of Colonial Pipeline Company in Atlanta, GA, which was comprised of 8 oil companies that managed the pipeline from the Gulf Coast to New Jersey. He presided for one year as Chairman of the Board.  He was a member of the Management Committee of the Aleyska Pipeline Company in Anchorage, AK, from 1978 to1992, which managed the Alaskan Pipeline.  He was a member of the Association of Oil Pipelines and the American Petroleum Institute.  During his tenure with Mobil, he traveled to every corner of the world including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Egypt, China, Viet Nam, Australia, South Africa, Ethiopia, Thailand and many European countries.  He travelled extensively to Saudi Arabia when the pipeline was being constructed.  Ed retired from Mobil in 1992 after 44 years of service with the company.

After retiring, Ed moved to Rockport, although he had a condo there since 1982, and visited regularly to enjoy boating, hunting and golf. He joined the Rockport Country Club in 1985 during its infancy and served on the Board of Directors from 1993 to 1997, presiding as President in 1996/97.  He was always an avid golfer and was fortunate to have played many of the great courses around the US and the world prior to retiring to Rockport.  He continued his love of the game at RCC and was a member of the Men’s Golf Association for many years.

He married Kathleen Horgan Wiley, the love of his life, in Nevis, West Indies in 1995. They enjoyed many years of golfing together, cruising, returning to Nevis and spending summers in Alaska for 20 plus years, where they were avid fishermen on the Kenai River. They enjoyed working on projects together and built two homes in RCC.

Ed is survived by his wife Kathleen of 25 years. Children: Linda Muyssen (Oscar) Ft.
