Obituary

 

Dorthea May Dabbs of Aransas Pass, Tx., passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Tx. She was 76. Dorthea was born in Houston Tx. to parents Roy Elmer Hill and Laura Bell Hill on August 15, 1945. She grew up in the Galveston area and resided in Aransas Pass for over 50 years. She spent over 34 years serving as a Cook at Faulk Elementary & Kieberger Elementary schools. She also sold Avon cosmetics for many years. Dorthea enjoyed crocheting and created beautiful blankets for each of her grandchildren. Her hobbies also included gardening, playing bunco & bingo, and watching birds and squirrels eat heartily from her feeders as she listened to the sounds of her windchimes. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Samantha (Jeff) Koehl of Corpus Christi, Tx., and Shawn (David) Garza of Victoria, Tx; sister, Mary Johnson of Huntsville, Tx; grandchildren, Katelynn (Gage) Thibodeaux, Ashlynn Samudio, Hannah Garza, Alexander (Berenice) Garza, and Christopher Koehl; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Michael Dabbs (2014), and her parents, and was joined in heaven by her twin sister, Eula Fay Schmidt on September 8th, 2021.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 12th from 6-8pm at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Aransas Pass. Dorthea’s Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, September 13th at 10am at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Prairie View Cemetery.
