Dale Johnson

Rockport

Dale W. Johnson (77) of Rockport, Texas and Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away on January 14, 2022, and is now with the Lord and Savior that he loved so much.

He was born on January 29, 1944 to Walfred and Lois (Burrell) Johnson in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and spent his childhood in Duluth. As a Boy Scout, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating with a BA from Macalester College in St. Paul, Dale went to work as a Federal Bank Examiner for the FDIC. He later became a banker and finished his career as a bank CEO in St. Cloud, MN.

Dale was an active volunteer in his retirement and had a particular passion for Christian missions. He volunteered with Wycliffe/JAARS, Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Mobilization, and many other organizations. He was also a volunteer at the Aransas County Public Library for several years. Dale loved classical music (especially opera) and travel; and if he could combine those two, that was just perfect.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (Goodrich) Johnson, his daughter Lois, his stepson Eric Nevalainen (Angie Miller) and granddaughter Lindsay Nevalainen.

He is also survived by his cherished “adopted” family Jason and Amanda Wang, Sam and Esther Wang, Jasper and Peggy Li, and their families.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church Rockport (designated for missions) or to the Friends of the Aransas County Public Library.

A memorial service will be held on:
