Christopher Kuykendall

Christopher Scott Kuykendall, 47, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2020 near Alice, Texas.

Born in Rustin LA, Chris graduated high school from Irion County. He earned a Master of Education from Sul Ross State University, and he was a graduate of Angelo State University in San Angelo where he met Cassie Neinast Kuykendall, his beautiful and devoted wife of 19 years. He was working on his Doctoral degree in education at the time of his death through Liberty University.

Chris was a dedicated high school coach and science teacher, serving positions across Texas for the past 19 years beginning in Calhoun County ISD (Port Lavaca), Rocksprings ISD (Rocksprings), Lorenzo  ISD (Lorenzo), Era ISD (Era), Panther Creek ISD (Valera), Mullin ISD (Mullin), Grady ISD (Lenorah), Oakwood ISD (Oakwood), Caldwell ISD (Caldwell), and Rockport-Fulton ISD (Rockport). He was respected and loved by students and fellow coaches alike.  He considered mentoring young student athletes to be his calling, and he was passionate about their growth and development.

An avid sportsman, Chris enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He also spent time following the Dallas Cowboys, UT longhorns, andstaying connected with his former students/colleagues. Chris prided himself on encouraging his former students long after they were out of high school. Chris was also an enthusiastic fan and supporter of his wife Cassie, a physical therapist currently at Humpal Physical Therapy.

He was preceded in death by his father Ray Kuykendall, and his foster parents William R (Bill) and Palma Price.

Chris is survived by his loving wife and their three children of the home, Joshua (a rising senior at Rockport-Fulton High School), Carlee (a rising sophomore at Rockport-Fulton) and Landry (a 6th grade student at Rockport-Fulton Middle School).  He also leaves his oldest son, Tyler Hall and his daughter in law, Callie Hall.

Additional survivors include his biological mother Dana Hammock of Louisiana, step mother Glenda Kuykendall of Barnhart, TX, half-brother Lee Adams and family of Carlsbad,NM, half- sister Jenna Adams of Carlsbad, NM, half-brother Curtis Kendall, sister-in-law Donna and niece Megan of Decatur, GA, half-brother Evve Kuykendall of San Antonio, TX, Christina and Jay Lowry sister and brother-in-law nieces Madalynn and Riley Flores of Waco, TX, along with multiple other Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 20th at First Baptist Church in Rockport, under the direction of Charlie Marshall Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Chris Kuykendall Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be awarded as a college scholarship to student athletes from any of the high schools where he taught.  Scholarship funds will be handed by Wells Fargo.
