Gene graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma. It was there he met his future wife, Suzanne Springs.

In 1958, Gene was drafted in the Army and assigned to the First Battle Group 23rd infantry. After discharge, Gene and Suzie moved to Texas where he began his career and family. Over his career in the medical pharmaceutical sales industry, Gene left a legacy through his leadership and mentorship through hard work, passion, and dedication. During his tenure, he received countless awards and accolades and will be missed by his former colleagues and friends.

In 1992 Gene and his wife moved to the Rockport area where they both eventually retired and settled into the community permanently. During his time in Rockport, Gene was actively involved in the Methodist Church in Rockport., serving on various committees, and teaching Sunday school to Jr high and Senior high school kids. His love of life, family, church, and friends will be forever remembered by those who loved him. He went out with a bang as a true American on July 4th, and we celebrate his life.
