Verona Marie Malek

Verona Marie Malek passed away on August 24, 2025 in Houston, Texas at the age of 97

. She was born on May 16, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was raised in Hutchinson Minnesota, where she met her husband Kenneth Malek. They were married in 1949 and had four children, Steven Malek David Malek, Carole Rauschuber and Diane Kelly. They lived in Minnesota until 1963 when they moved to Houston, Texas.

 After retirement, they moved to Rockport Texas in 1992 where they were both members of Peace Lutheran Church for over 20 years and worked at Castaways. After her husband died in January 2013 she moved back to Houston and lived with her daughter Diane until her death.

 She is survived by three children, nine grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son David, grandchild Kinsey Malek, great grandchild, Will Malek and son-in-law, Gerald Kelly.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband with a graveside service on September 20, 2025 at 10:00am at the Rockport cemetery, with Rev. David Berquist officiating.
