Tommy M. Walker

Aug 9, 1948 – Aug 9, 2025

A quick-witted bright-eyed hat wearing husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother was called home August 9, 2025, on his 77th birthday in Rockport, Tx.

Tom is lovingly survived by his wife of 35 years Wanda “Shorty” Walker.

His legacy lives on through his children Thomas L. Walker, Michael T. Walker, James A. Walker, Rebecca M. Pacheco and brothers Mike Walker and Johnny W. Walker.

Born in Ashland, Kentucky to James and Helen Walker on the same day as his twin brother Johnny W. Walker, it is said the town was never the same. Mike Walker had already made his debut on August 10th, 1946, so when Tommy and Johnny entered the world the Walker brothers became a force no one could stop. It is said Johnny was the one that started it, and Tommy is the one that finished it, however, when the twins stood next to each other, no one could tell them apart. Who really started it today and who really finished it today?

After finishing school in Russell, Kentucky, in 1966 Tom went on to work in the Steel Industry. He was strong and smart and did what he needed to do to provide for a family he quickly had. Youthful love and learning sent him to Houston, Tx in 1978 where he spent 25 years with HydroChem Industrial Services. He built an entrepreneurial life on the side creating multiple companies with adventure, heartache, and success. In August 1990 he married his best friend and love of his life, Wanda, who is also known as Shorty due to her petite nature. Together they went on to spend the next 35 years living life to the fullest.

When Tom decided to retire from his company JT Rentals, he stated he was going to buy an RV and travel the country to fish wherever he wanted. Tom made it all the way to Rockport, TX where he and Shorty settled in 2011. Tom loved fishing. He always had an amazing fishing story to tell and anyone that had the pleasure of his time has either a great story to tell with him in it or has heard a great story from him. Tom was a man of many talents, but fishing was a skill he was born with and a passion he couldn’t ignore. Any time Tom Walker had a pole, some string, a hook, and something for bait he could catch a fish. He was easily one of the best fishermen in any group of men when any group of men gathered.

A lot of us are going to miss you, Tom. We are going to miss your laugh, your stories, your kindness, your fishing knowledge. We know you lived a great life, and we know you loved greatly.

We will cast a line and see you next time Tom.
