Timothy Dewayne Rivers passed away peacefully in his home in Canyon Lake, Texas on April 13, 2026 surrounded by his family by choice, his aunt Bertha, and his loving wife Rose Berna Rivers.
He’s preceded in death by his parents, Angeline and Joe L Rivers, and his sisters, Diana Darrell, Mona Mitchell, and Twynette Toree Rivers. Also his sister-in-law by choice, Heather Brock, and her husband, Kelly Brock.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Berna Rivers, his siblings Joe Thomas, Joseph Lewis (late Iris) Rivers Jr., Jay (Lori) Rivers, Oliver Kimmons, Christopher Huge (Anna) Rivers, Deborah (Timothy) Walker, and Beverly Ann (late John) Miller. Also, his aunt Bertha Jamison Jones. He had a stepfamily through his wife, Rose, including a stepson, Nolan Wayne (Autumn) Kirby, and their three children, Ava, Landon, and Emma. He also had two nephews and a niece by choice, Justin and Katherine Brock, and Austin Dellinger, as well as a sister-in-law by choice, Mollie Lance.
Tim was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on June 13, 1962. He was a chess master. He was very well known in the Texas chess community for how good he was. It was definitely his favorite hobby. He was also a sports fan. He loved the Buffalo Bills and the Sabres. It was not uncommon to see Tim wearing a jersey. He enjoyed classic video games on the Super Nintendo, especially Donkey Kong Country.
Tim was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and loved sharing his love of the Bible and his hope for a resurrection to live forever in a paradise earth.
But his favorite way to spend his time was country drives and walks in nature with the love of his life, Rose. Even in his final moments, his concern was that Rose would be taken care of. They were happily married for just over 19 years.
Tim was patient, slow to anger, and as kind-hearted as they come. His loving and selfless nature was a fine example we should all emulate. His gentle and light soul was a gift and blessing to us all. One we’ll cherish and keep in our hearts.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home. Memorial Service to begin at 2:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, Texas.
