It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Starla Ann Poncik, who left this world on June 28, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on November 8, 1964, Starla grew up in Rockport, Texas, where she graduated from Rockport Fulton High School. She spent her life dedicated to her family, always radiating love and warmth to those around her. Starla's journey began anew in 1993 when she married her beloved husband, Kevin Poncik, on the beautiful shores of Clearwater, Florida. Together, they created a life full of laughter, love, and countless memories. Starla found joy in the simple things—taking leisurely drives along the water, casting her line while fishing, and cheering passionately for her favorite teams: the Spurs and Cowboys. A spirited and caring soul, Starla was never one to shy away from standing up for what was right. She exemplified strength paired with kindness, and her ability to be genuine made everyone feel seen and loved. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. 

Starla is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley; her stepmothers, Bonnie and Mattie; her brother, Lawerence Allen; and her sister, Rhonda Wood. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Kevin Poncik; her children, Sarah, Kevin, and Shawn; and her cherished grandchildren, Damon, Darian, and Emmitt. She is also survived by her father, LT Johnson, and her siblings, Kim Rossington, David Rossington, Chad Johnson, and Shannon Johnson. As we gather to remember Starla, let us share our favorite stories, reminisce about laughter-filled moments, and honor the beautiful spirit she was. She may no longer walk among us, but her light will forever shine in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Rockport Beach Pavilion.
