ROMAN J. GARZA, JR.
ARANSAS PASS – Roman J. Garza, Jr., 90, died as the result of a stroke on May 22, 2023, at Angel Bright Hospice in Corpus Christi. He was born March 18, 1933, in Aransas Pass, the son of Roman and Marciana (Diaz De Leon) Garza.
Roman attended schools in Aransas Pass and entered the Army on March 18, 1950, and served until 1953. Upon discharge, he entered the Air Force and served until 1957.
He was a Captain of a supply ship for 15 years for Tidex Intl out of New Orleans, LA. He spent much time overseas in many exotic places.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Aransas Pass and then Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport. He was also a member of the knights of Columbus.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Edward Garza, brother Homer Garza, son Christopher Garza and great grandson Donovan Edwards.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa G Metrejean (Johnny) of Pierre part, LA, grandchildren: Kim Gautier (Tracy), Tonya Leonard (Barrett), Billie Gautreau (Paul), Roger Davila (Chelsea), Lilliana Galvan (Brennen), Austin Davila (Brianna) all of Pierre part, LA and Cheyenne Garza of New Bedford, MA.
Daughter-in-law, Carol Garza of New Bedford, MA, sister Sylvia Olivares of Corpus Christi and sister Herminia Robles of Rockport. He also had 11 great grandchildren, 18 great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25th from 10 am to 8 pm with Rosary to be said at 7 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 26th from 10:30 to 11:30 at Sacred Heart Church in Rockport with burial to follow at Aransas Memorial Park.
Pall Bearers will be Cecilio Robles, Tim Robles, Timothy Robles, III, Tommy Deleon, Oscar Olivares and Henry Deleon.
