Rod went on to serve within the Carver County Sheriff's Dept. where he held positions as School Liaison Officer teaching the D.A.R.E. program, and retired as Captain, Administrator of the Jail in 2000.

Even before retirement, Rod & Katie loved to travel often. They even accomplished traveling on motorcycles within the 48 inner states. After retirement Rod & Katie became snowbirds traveling to Alabama and Texas where they've met so many friends that became family. During the summer months Rod & Katie would head back to their lake cabin in Henning, MN. Rod loved to golf, fish, and take his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews out on the boat and beath them up on the tubes. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially Texas Hold 'Em. Rod & Katie even put on their own tournaments around the lakes area. Rod also always held a very special place in his heart for his pups.

Rod taught us all many lessons and he always had a story to tell. He especially liked to pick on people, if he picked on you, he liked you. Rod will be so greatly missed by family and friends.
