Roberto M. Silvas

Roberto M. Silvas, age 80, of Portland, Texas passed away on May 1, 2026. Mr. Silvas was born in Taft, Texas on June 7, 1945 to Domingo and Manuela Silvas.

He grew up in Gregory and Portland area where he attended Gregory Porland High School , he was a master carpenter for over 50 years consequently was a whiz at math, especially reading a tape measure. His quick wit and snappy comebacks will truly be missed, and always had a ready joke when someone was down and was an expert at reading someone’s facial expression.

Mr. Silvas favorite pastimes were fishing, watching the NFL and western movies, auto mechanics, talking sports especially football and enjoyed his Spam and Bean tacos and of course his favorite dessert was ice cream.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Maria (Richard) De La Paz , Jessie (Veronica) Silvas, Edward (Laura) Silvas, Andrew (Crystal) Silvas, along with sisters Juanita Rodriguez and Maria Lena Silvas and brother Domingo Silvas.

Mr. Silvas was preceded by parents, son Robert P. Silvas, brothers Lencho, Benito, and David Silvas.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Silvas, Richard De La Paz, Andrew Ryan Silvas, Jeremiah De La Paz, John Sombrano and Austin Silvas
