Robert Freeland Worthy, of Rockport, TX passed away on January 14, 2021 after fighting Acute Covid Pneumonia. He is preceded in death by his parents H.B. and Ruth Worthy and his brothers Gerald and Larry Worthy. Bob is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ginger; children Kathy Blackburn and her husband Carl, Amy Armistead and her husband Michael and son Tony Worthy. In addition, he leaves seven grandchildren, Hudson, Henry, Helen, Kiersten, Dalton, Donovan and Madison.
Bob was born in Dallas, Texas on February 14, 1941 and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959. He lived his entire life in Dallas, until March 2020, when he moved to Rockport, Texas with Ginger.
Bob was an entrepreneur at heart and owned several businesses, the most recent being Metro Pest Control, which he retired from and sold after 32 years to his son-n-law, Michael.
Bob never met a stranger and had more friends and acquaintances than anyone would be able to count. He was a dependable, honest, generous and loving man, with the proverbial heart of gold. As a loving husband, he gave Ginger fresh flowers every week for 35 years.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, with duck hunting and dove hunting being his favorite sport and he was always accompanied by his golden retrievers. Bob could tell story after story about the colorful and fulfilling life he led. Listening came just as easy and his wit and laugh will never be forgotten.
Our family lost a wonderful man, husband, father, granddad and loyal friend. He will be tremendously missed by his family, friends and community.
A come & go celebration of Bob's life will be at 7350 Highland Glen Trail, in Dallas, TX. on February 14, 2021 from 11:30-1:30.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Robert F. Worthy’s name to the Humane Society of Rockport/Fulton at: P.O. Box 1502, Fulton, TX. 78358
