Robert Craig
Woods
May 5, 1946 — Jul 25, 2026
ARANSAS PASS
Robert Craig Woods passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, in Portland, Texas, while holding the hands of his beloved daughter.
Robert was born in Seguin, Texas on May 5th, 1946, and spent his childhood in Stockdale. He graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science degree, where he met the love of his life, Donna Lee Harris. They were married on November 16, 1973, at his parents’ home on Lake Placid in Seguin, beginning more than five decades of marriage together.
For 35 years, Robert and his family called Riverwood Ranch in China Spring, Texas, home. There he built Outdoor Concepts, a successful commercial landscape and irrigation business known for quality workmanship and dependable service. He believed in working hard, doing things the right way, and letting his work speak for itself.
More than anything, Robert loved being outdoors and on the water. Fishing was less about catching fish and more about slowing life down. Whether he was chasing redfish, trout, drum, bass, catfish, or whatever happened to be biting that day, he simply loved being outdoors. Many of his favorite weekends were spent running an airboat on the Brazos River, enjoying the water with family and friends.
Robert appreciated the simple things that many people pass by. He was happiest sitting on the porch watching a thunderstorm roll across the Texas sky or heading out on the water in search of the next fishing trip. Those simple pleasures became cherished traditions that he passed down to his daughter and grandchildren. He never needed extravagance to be content. Nature, the water, and the people he loved were enough.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Donna Lee Harris Woods; his daughter, Katherine Clair Edgerley, and her husband, John Michels Edgerley; his grandchildren, Adeline Kate Edgerley, Nathan John Edgerley, and Edith Clair Edgerley; his brother, Jarrett E. Woods Jr., and sister-in-law, Pamela Woods; Steven Johnson and his wife, Jane Johnson, and their children; his niece, Wendy Patterson, and her husband, Mark Patterson, and their children; his niece, Courtney Heaton, and her husband, Jon Heaton, and their children; and his nephew, Jarrett Woods, and his wife, Crystal Woods, and their children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jarrett Edwin Woods, and his mother, Bobbye Woods Hays, and his stepfather Richard Lawton Hays.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Aransas Pass Yacht Club, 426 E. Ransom Road, Aransas Pass, Texas 78336.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Anderson House Pregnancy Resource Center, whose mission is offering hope, compassion, and practical support to women and families
