Robert Lee
Taylor
Dec 22, 1945 — Aug 16, 2026
Aransas Pass
Robert Lee “Bobby” Taylor was born on December 22, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He grew up in Ohio and attended Sycamore High School, where he was active in football, baseball, and basketball. In 1979, Bobby made his way to Texas, where he would spend the remainder of his life.
Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. His service and sacrifice were recognized with the Purple Heart, an honor that reflected the courage with which he served his country.
Before and after his military service, Bobby spent his career on the road as a truck driver. It was a fitting occupation for a man who enjoyed traveling and meeting people along the way.
Bobby was truly a character and someone people did not easily forget. He loved to tell stories and was a master at telling jokes. With Bobby around, there was rarely a dull moment. He had a gift for entertaining those around him and could keep family, friends, and even new acquaintances laughing and listening for hours. His stories, sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
When he wasn't sharing a story or making someone laugh, Bobby enjoyed golfing, traveling, working in his yard, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros, and he especially loved his Ohio State Buckeyes.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Johnnie Bosworth; his son, Robbie Taylor from his first wife Carolyn; and many loving family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Taylor; his sister, Judy Taylor Raines; and his parents, Ulies Hobart Taylor and Lorene Pitman Taylor.
Bobby leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, memories, and love. Those who knew him will remember not only where he went and what he accomplished, but the way he could fill a room with laughter and make an ordinary moment memorable. His stories may have ended, but they will continue to be told—and undoubtedly retold with a smile—by the people who loved him.
