Robert Lorenzo Parke III, passed away at his home in Lamar, Texas, on June 12, 2023, at the age of 82. Robert Lorenzo Parke was born in Alice, Texas on March 10, 1941, to parents, Robert and Thelma Parke Jr.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma Parke Jr.; son, Robert Lorenzo Parke IV.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Parke; sister, Sharon Backert; sisters-in-law, Betty Latham, Melba Smith and Linda Wingo; many nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.
Robert graduated from Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas, in 1959. Robert and Hazel were married on March 2, 1962, in Kemah. He joined the Navy, and they lived in the Philippines, Japan, and all over the U.S. He retired from the Navy after 20 years. They moved to Lamar, Texas, in 1978. Robert and Hazel loved to travel, and they traveled all over the world. Robert owned a Charter Fishing business. He was the Fire Chief of Lamar Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was an EMT Volunteer for ACMS and helped organize first responders in Lamar. Robert also worked for Port Aransas EMS and after retiring from Port Aransas, became a volunteer on USS Lexington Museum. He was also a member of the First Baptist Rockport Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lamar Volunteer Fire Department 302 Bois D' Arc St, Rockport, TX 78382.
A reception will follow at Lamar Volunteer Fire Department Bois D' Arc St, Rockport, TX 78382.
Burial will be private at a later date.
