“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of our beloved Robert Mejorado Cavazos, who entered eternal rest on October 26, 2026, at the age of 62.
Robert was born on March 11, 1964, to Gilbert Mejorado and Elvira Almanza. A longtime resident of Rockport, Texas, Robert was a devoted Christian whose life was rooted in faith, family, hard work, and service to others.
Robert was a hardworking and talented carpenter who proudly owned and operated Rob’s Home Improvements in the Rockport area. A skilled builder and craftsman, he dedicated his life to building, repairing, renovating, and restoring homes throughout his community. Whether he was building something from the ground up, bringing new life to an old home, or helping someone in need, Robert took great pride in his work. His craftsmanship was more than a profession; it was one of the many ways he provided for his family and served those around him.
Beyond his work, Robert was known for his loving heart, generosity, and willingness to give back. He was a man who believed in helping others, often giving his time, talents, and resources wherever they were needed. His Christian faith was an important part of who he was, and he demonstrated that faith through his actions.
As a devoted member of Fulton Community Church, Robert was actively involved in serving his church family and community. He helped establish the church’s food pantry, a ministry dedicated to providing food and assistance to families in need. His compassion and dedication to helping others left a lasting impact on the community he loved.
Robert shared a special bond with his beloved best friend and life partner, Brandie Currie. Their relationship was built on love, friendship, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion. Brandie’s extraordinary act of love as Robert’s kidney donor was a testament to the depth of their bond and the journey they shared together.
Above all, Robert was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He treasured his family and leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished for generations.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Elvira Almanza; his son, Robby Cavazos; and his brothers, Juan “Bear” Mejorado and Hugo N. Mejorado.
Robert leaves behind his beloved best friend and life partner, Brandie Currie, and his loving father, Gilbert Mejorado; his children: Gilbert Cavazos, Bobby Cavazos, Roxy Ortiz, Jesika Mejorado, Ruby Alejos, and Makayla Browning; his siblings: Mario Mejorado, Ralph Mejorado, Oscar Mejorado, Minerva Mejorado, Andrea Mejorado, Jimmy Cavazos, Joe Cavazos, Eddie Cavazos, Ernie Cavazos, Willie Martinez, Pauline Martinez, and Guadalupe Martinez. Robert also leaves behind numerous cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, his beloved church family, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Throughout his life, Robert built more than homes and restored more than buildings. He built lasting relationships, strengthened his community, and left behind a legacy of faith, generosity, and love that will never be forgotten.
He was a man who worked with his hands, gave from his heart, and walked in faith. His willingness to serve others, his dedication to his family, and his love for the Lord will forever remain a part of his legacy.
Although his earthly journey has come to an end, the foundation he laid through his faith, love, and kindness will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind.
His family finds peace and comfort in knowing that Robert has finished his earthly race and is now resting in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4
A man of faith. A heart for service. A lifetime of love.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
Until we meet again.
The Viewing will be at Fulton Community Church on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 from 4-7PM. A Celebration of Life will begin at 7PM.
