Rachel H Garcia

Rachel H. Garcia, born on July 27, 1942, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 1, 2025 at the age of 83. Rachel was born in Corpus Christi, TX to Juan Hernandez and Jesusa Hernandez. 

Rachel is survived by her soulmate of 68 years, Jose Genaro Garcia, her  6 children - Genevieve Gonzalez (late Marty Gonzalez), Rick, Ruben (Ester), Daniel (Laura), Mark (Kelly), Brenda (Richard) and a sister, Elena Longoria. 

Rachel retired from the Aransas County WIC Office, and continued in a non-profit organization as a Pastor’s wife alongside Genaro until her stroke in 2013. Rachel enjoyed thrift shopping (Castaways), serving in the community, volunteering at Castaways resale store, taking strolls at the beach, laughing, and smiling. Her greatest joy was spending precious time with her family - 19 grandchildren, 28 Great grandchildren, and 4 Great-great grandchildren.

Rachel is preceded in by her parents, Juan and Jesusa Hernandez; brother,  Juan Hernandez Jr.; daughter, JoAnn Garcia; son, Jose Genaro Garcia Jr., and her son-in-law, Marty Gonzalez.

Mamacita, thank you for your never-ending Faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for all prayers that we never heard. Thank you for the countless blessings you prayed upon us that we never knew. Thank you for the love you showed even when we weren’t looking. Thank you for being a pillar of a virtuous woman. You shall be missed and loved forever, but we are in peace knowing you are living again in the Kingdom of Heaven. Until we meet again!
