Obituary

Patty Gilden lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and unwavering love and loyalty for her family. She passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026 - surrounded by family. She was 80 years old.

Patty was born January 5, 1946 in Summit, Arkansas to Ira and Linda Rasey. After graduating from APISD in 1964, she went on to graduate from Stevenson Beauty College.

Patty owned and operated a Merle Norman Cosmetics shop for over 50 years. If she wasn't at the shop, chances were she was doing something for the Woman's Club, where she was a memberfor 50 years and a honorary life member of the South Texas Division.

Patty was preceded in death by her beloved brother Johnny Rasey, herfather Ira Rasey, her mother Linda Young and Stepfather, Frank Young; In laws Eddie and Inez Gilden; brother-in-law Wayne Gilden.

Patty is survived by her husband of 58 years - Eddie Gilden Jr.; Daughter, Lori Gilden; son, Jason Gilden(Stephanie); Eleven randchildren: Julian, Jayda, Parris, Berlynn, Brookelynn, Maricella, Victoria, Rozelynn, Naddine, Bubba and Gabriel. Five great-grandchildren:  Eliana, Camilla, Hayden, Jagger and Grayson.

Patty was a selfless person that gave her time, money, and ultimately her health. She did for everyone, always putting herself last. Making others happy was what gave her the greatest satisfaction. When she set her mind to something, she would not, could not be stopped. It did not matter if it was obtaining a pilot license before she got a driving license; organizing style shows for the Woman's Club; or taking on the whole police department when her son was wrongfully prosecuted. She was only 5' tall - but she was a mighty force with no quit in her being. Many people will never know everything she did for the community; and her family, because everything she did was done from her heart. It wasn't for recognition. She loved and was loved, and she will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
