Patricia Faye “Penny” Dick Brown

Penny Brown, 85, a resident of Rockport, TX, passed away February 24, 2026. Patricia Faye was born in Dallas, TX, on December 14, 1940, to Flora “Flo” Elliott and Harris Milby Dick. She was the third child of four: Harris Merle, Melba Potts, Penny and Sharon Moore. She survived Sharon, also from Rockport, by just four days.

The family moved to Galveston, TX, where Penny attended most of her school years, and finished at Ball High School as part of NHS and band as a baton twirler. She spent most of her career working for UTMB in Galveston, then continued to work in the medical field until retirement.

Penny is survived by her children: Donna Coselli (Frank), Joseph “Joey” Pearson III (Sandy), Cinde Bond (Ranger) and Alise Whitted. Seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren added much joy to her legacy. She also leaves behind her brother-in-law, Jim Moore and numerous nephews/great nephews and nieces/great nieces that she loved like her children. Making friends was very easy for Penny and she had a beautiful variety of friends throughout her many walks of her life—many of them were considered as extended family.

To put it lightly, Penny was an adventurous, fun-loving, smart and compassionate person. With a strong desire to try high-octane activities, she was a horsewoman for many years, participating in many trail rides and horse oriented events. When her kids were younger, she loved to sew their Easter and other outfits, and those skills were showcased throughout the years by helping out with many events with her creativeness.

Throughout her very active life she made sure to enjoy numerous roller coaster rides, international trips with her grand kids (and nephew) to Ireland, Paris, and Greece. Several cruises to different countries were scattered throughout to the delight of her wandering soul. She added on skydiving (60 yrs old), flying in a biplane (70 yrs old), and an experimental plane (a lawnmower with wings) (80 yrs old). Most of this was done while fighting heart disease and scoliosis. As they say, its hard to keep a good woman down.

Penny wore many shirts, but mainly for the Dallas Cowboys, and made a strong point to let people know the she wouldn’t talk to you when “her boys” were on TV. Overall, she was a huge sports fan , and you could find her cheering on golf, baseball and college football, too.

One of the most beautiful things about Penny was her full on laugh. It had it’s own octave, and if anyone was around her at anytime they could not help but laugh joyfully with her. That laugh is probably reverberating in the heavens right now.

Sharon and Jim Moore were in Rockport before Penny, but when she made her surprise entrance into the “Bay Breeze” town, she didn’t waste time joining Sharon in volunteering. Gradually she found her own niches. Hopefully, in many years to follow, her creative volunteering style and spirit will have left it’s mark at the Fulton Mansion, History Center, Chamber of Commerce, Little Theatre and the bereavement support group she lead for many years.

Penny wanted to be cremated and she will be celebrated with private ceremonies. In her memory, remember to live each day to its fullest. Celebrate always, love God and Jesus with full abandonment, and if you want, donate to her favorite activities or the charities/causes of your choice.
