Patricia Dejean

August 11, 1935 — April 30, 2023

Rockport

In loving memory of our mother, Patricia (Pat) Ann DeJean, who passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023 in Rockport, Texas surrounded by her family.

Pat was the devoted wife of Prescott Louis DeJean Jr. and loving mother of Andre Pierre DeJean Sr., Prescott Louis DeJean III, Kim Douglas DeJean, and Jon Drew DeJean. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Born on August 11, 1935 to Homer Stacey Cowan and Lois V. Cowan, in Overton, Texas Pat immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. She graduated from Leverett’s Chapel High School in 1953 where she was recognized for her band achievements, participated in numerous clubs and her graduation quote was “Small folks seem to fill a place no other can replace”. Pat went on to attend Kilgore College where she was a proud Kilgore Rangerette.

After moving to Texas City, Texas in she met the love of her life, Prescott, and the two were inseparable from that point on. They were married for 67 years and had many wonderful adventures together such as starting a business, having 14 German Shepherd’s at one time, a monkey, a horse, and even a lion (yes, you read that correctly-a monkey and a lion) while raising their four boys. Pat was an amazing friend, a fabulous hostess that made everyone feel welcomed and special, and an avid reader. She also enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends camping and boating, and just having a “good time”. She was also very involved in supporting her community at Chamber, Lion’s Club, Kiwanis, and Local Mental Health Authority events and continued supporting many organizations throughout her lifetime, with a favorite being a member of the Red Hat Society. A tiny 4’11”, Pat had a 10’ personality.

Our mother was a source of inspiration to us all and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her and no words can express how missed she will be. We ask that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Betty, Melba, and Sue. Pat is survived by her husband and children, daughters-in-law Karen DeJean and Janet DeJean, grandchildren Andre DeJean II., Lauren Meyers, Jessica Snell, Bambi Tremont, Prescott Louis DeJean IV, twins Jennifer and Michelle, Author DeJean, , Gabrielle DeJean and Victoria McLennan; numerous great-grandchildren, her beloved dog CoCo, her cat TC, and her collection of cook books, magazines and all things pelican.

Mom, you will always be in our hearts, and we will never forget you. We love you so much. Rest in peace.
