Orlando Rey Zuniga, also known as Rey-Rey, or Oz, passed away on Thursday, May 29th, 2025.
Rey was born on October 15th, 1982 in Corpus Christi, TX to Cynthia Lynn Campbell and Roberto Zuniga. He grew up in Rockport, TX, along side his twin brother, Ross, and his two older brothers, Bobby and Tanner. The boys had a very close bond, grew up in a small town, and were known and loved by many. When they were kids, Ross and Rey were inseparable. They loved the water immensely and would go to the beach as much as possible, swimming out as far as they could. Rey would grow to spend so much of his time at or in the water, surfing, fishing, and some of his happiest memories were working on a shrimp boat in his early 20s.
After working on the shrimp boat, Rey did all kinds of work that involved the restaurant industry, learning the front and the back of the house well with all of the experience he gained. He also worked for the oil industry while living in Beaumont, TX as a rough-necker on an offshore drilling rig, which he really enjoyed. He did landscape work beautifully, and worked on a ranch with cattle and horses for a bit. He was truly a jack of many trades and a very hard worker, taking pride in all that he did.
Rey was incredibly loving and kind, and would go out of his way to help anyone. He loved people, animals, plants, art, nature, and music. Some of his favorite songs were, "Release" from Pearl Jam, and "A Change is Gonna Come" by Sam Cook. He had a knack for growing plants and would do so for purpose and pleasure. He loved to be outdoors and loved to hike in and climb the mountains in New Mexico while he lived there on and off from 2009 to 2017. He enjoyed jewelry making, song writing, and drawing. He loved to travel and would have seen as much of the world as he could.
Rey loved Jehovah and focused on that relationship throughout his life. Isaiah 40: 28-31 was Rey's favorite scripture. He is preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Alba, and his father and grandparents. He is survived by his daughter, Zoey Zuniga, his son, Alec Zuniga (Hanna), his mother, Cynthia Lynn Campbell, his twin brother Aaron Ross Zuniga (Samantha), his brother Tanner John Alba, 5 nieces, 6 nephews, and multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins that loved him incredibly. He will deeply be missed, and his loss is unmeasurably painful for anyone that knew him.
