Nellie Gay Kelley-Schuster passed away on March 11, 2026. She was 55 years old. She was born January 17, 1971 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado to Terry and Sandra Kelley. Nellie married the love of her life, Scott Schuster on November 30, 2010. She was a member of the Texas Apt. Asso. and the Texas Pro Sedans (racing), and a member of the St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Portland although she was raised Catholic.
Nellie my sweetie pie, there are no words I can put together to give her justice for the person she was. We meet when she was 38 and I was 43. 2009 I believe. The first time meeting at a mutual friends house after talking for a while she spoke with her then 18 year old daughter saying this the type of person to look for. I was shocked more than anything listening from afar. Not really knowing what the impression was that I had left to have her think of me that well.
I found that she loved stock car racing, not watching but driving circle track at Corpus Christi Speedway, NELLIE KELLIE #88, So had a love or racing and she loved Bowling too. After she gave me her phone # to call, every time she was busy for going on 2 weeks. I said at that time we'll get together when ever you get time for us. That must have given her a thought for she cleared time right away after that. She bowled 5 to 6 nights a week. She wouldn't let me go with her bowling for quite some time, She liked structure...Bowling concentration, different group of mature friends. Not long after ... next bowing season.. I was on her team... bowled together until I injured my Shoulders in 2015.
I mentioned racing, Nellie raced 12 years. I heard one season she raced 3 classes. Run the super street cars, jump out and into a car in the Bomber class, then to the 4 cylinder class later called the Texas Pro Sedans. She was a bold driver the expression Checked Flag or crash. I found out if she didn't win or place for trophy I had lots of repairs from a bump bruise or crash.... Lots of steering racks. She raced until the racing was too hard on her health being diagnosed with pancreatitis. Ends up being a birth defect of a diverted duct in the pancreas. This diagnosis started the year before I met her. She claimed she only had 5 years to live.
Her career was in the Property Management business. My Sweetie Nellie, Managed Apartments in Colorado, then when wet brought her to Corpus Christi ishe went to work for Capstone Real Estate Services where she managed and trained numerous employees to managers. She also managed the Naval housing in Portland Tx to convert to civilian housing. Managed Royal palms/West Cliff apartments.
Nellie fit in to our family like a Glove. In 2015 started managing our own Sea Breeze RV Community/Resort. (This is an example of her eye sight), Lifting the properties ego. Renaming Sea Breeze RV park to the height of Sea Breeze RV Resort. At Sea Breeze there are several words that are cuss words, (trailer, park, lot) this your your home have pride, (RV, 5th wheel, Motor Home) Rested there Home at their (Home Site). Nellie Handle the Family Businesses of Otto Schuster Inc. Pertaining to the Rental Houses and the RV Resort. We held each others hands as I the Maintenance Manager for Family business.
She was Loving, Caring, Passionate, Prideful. Never a Day that Nellie would be seen without Makeup. Nellie and I had such a beautiful life together, the benefits of a relationship that is so cohesive in work, play, and lots of love. She had the biggest heart, she would do anything for her friends, employees, and family. Her son Chance described his mom as Passionate and Prideful.
Nellie had a love for animals. Her kitty cats calmed her and relaxing mornings with her smoke. Even the cattle we had out at the ranch were her kitties too, she said. If anything happened to any of her animals, she always made sure that they were taken care of healed. She was always afraid of Karma.
When we met I had an obstacle for her to overcome. As her youngest daughter graduated and joined the Navy I had a 13 year old teenager. Nellie and both my daughters grew to love one another....true family. Both Nellie's 2 kids, and My 2 kids...True loving family that would do anything for each other.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Scott Schuster; children, Komiko Wilson and Chance Salazar; step-daughters, Melody Schuster, and Mail Schuster; sister, Susan Helgeser.
The family will be having a celebration of life in April and we will post the information as soon as it is scheduled.
