Merle Moncrief, 97 of Taft, Texas went to be with the Lord on the morning of February 19, 2022 in her home. She was born on November 17, 1924, in Victoria, Texas to William and Ellen Gaugler.
Merle was best known for her love of her family, getting her hands dirty in the dirt to grow some of the most precious flowers. She was an excellent cook and baker (especially
at Christmas), She was also an excellent seamstress and quilter making most of her, her children's and grand children's cloths while they were growing up. She also took pride into her roots of being born on a ranch and called herself a pioneer woman.
On October 13, 1948 She married the love of her life, Marcus Moncrief in Victoria, Texas before moving to Ingleside Texas for many years before moving to Taft, Texas. She remained married to Marcus up until his death in 2015.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Parents, her daughter Cherie Moncrief, brother Orville Gaugler and sister Jewel Hauboldt.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Sharon Gregorczyk (Russell) of Kyle, Texas, her son Byron Moncrief (Dede) of Ingleside, Texas. Six grand children Leah Bertram, Byron Moncrief Jr., Wesley Moncrief, Brent Gregorezyk, Blake Gregorczyk, and Drew Gregorczyk. Eight great grandchildren and one great, great grand
daughter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 From 10 AM-12:00PM at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Taft,Tx. Followed by a burial at The Palms Memorial Garden Cemetery.
