Melvaleen (Melva) Dendy Jackson, born February 24, 1934, in Ingleside, Texas, passed away on October 19, 2025 in Corpus Christi, Texas after a lengthy illness.
Parents, Noah Dendy and Beda Lee George Kenney, preceded her in death, as well as husband, Richard Jackson, brothers, Thomas Dendy and Curtis Kenney, and sister, Charlotte Denney.
She is survived by her daughter, Myra Jean Valentine, son, Kermit Lee Valentine, both of Corpus Christi, TX, brothers, Charles Kenney of Aransas Pass, TX, Doyle Dendy of Oregon, sisters, Donna Dendy Nemec of Oregon and Lura Dendy Trawick of Arizona, sister-in-law, Marian Kenney of Morgan City, LA, five grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. She also leaves many dear friends.
Born of very humble beginnings, with limited opportunities for education, she was determined to have a better life for herself and her family. As a teen, she worked to help provide for her younger sister and brothers. Always striving to improve, she eventually came to own her own restaurants and other small businesses, until she retired. After retirement, she continued to stay busy with community service projects, recruiting members of her retirement community to join her efforts. She loved making her home beautiful and entertaining. Even as her body was weakened by her illness, her mind stayed strong and alert.
Although she had high expectations of her family, friends, and employees, she is leaving many grateful for her generosity and support. She will be remembered for her vitality, creativity, and ability to get things done.
