Mable Lemora Turnipseede
March 12,1928 – March 21, 2022
Mable L. Turnipseede went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 21, 2022. She was born to James Madison and Lillie Mable Anderson in Lucedale Mississippi. She moved to Texas with her family when she was in grade school. She graduated from Nixon High School and then went on to graduate from Business College in San Antonio. She met Loyd Turnipseede while playing softball for the opposing team. They got married on May 20, 1952, and they were married 62 years.
Mable worked as a bank teller in Nixon and then as the head bank teller at First National Bank in Ingleside. She Managed the medical office in Ingleside for Dr. C.H. Lewis. She was very involved in Little League Baseball in Ingleside and volunteered many hours running the concession stand, sewing patches on uniforms, and keeping score. When Loyd retired, they moved to Prairie Hill Texas where they owned and operated a drive-in grocery store and BBQ restaurant. They moved back to Odem Texas where Mable became a full-time grandma, keeping her grandkids and always being available to drive them to numerous events. She was very active in churches wherever she lived, always serving others. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Odem and the Order of the Eastern Star in Prairie Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, her husband and 2 children. She is survived by her son Bob Turnipseede (Vera) of Taylor, her daughter Ann Blankenship (David), Bluntzer, 4 grandchildren, Mark Blankenship (Heather) Corpus Christi, Ben Turnipseede (Amanda) Woodlands, Jeff Blankenship, Corpus Christi, Chloe Sawtelle (Travis) Midland, numerous great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Brookdale Northshore and Harbor Hospice for their care and kindness shown to Mable.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 25 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church located at 307 W. Turner in Odem. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Nixon Cemetery in Nixon, Texas.
