Lucia Lopez,61, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2023. Lucia was born to parents, Clemente Hernandez and Lorenza Pena, in Corpus Christi, Texas, on December 5, 1961.
She is preceded in death by her father, Clemente Hernandez; mother, Lorenza Pena; sister, MaryEllen Montemayor; brother, Marcus Hernandez.
Growing up in Rockport could not have been more perfect for Lucy. She loved the water, preferably with her hair up in a visor, a drink in her hand, and sitting in a tube. Anyone who knew Lucy knew she loved a good deal, especially at Goodwill, castaways, or a yard sale. One of the best qualities she had was she was not materialistic, but thrifty. Lucy was an LVN for years and it was the perfect job. It brought her two favorite things together, kids and helping others.
Lucy was an amazing mother and a beautiful person. She loved being around family and friends. Her nieces and nephews were her world. No one could get this woman to stay still. You could find her running around with the kids, trying to cook or help cook, or cutting grass. She would be asking you 5 or 10 times if you were hungry but would already have a plate ready for you. She would not hesitate to put out a helping hand. She will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory is her only son, Trey Lopez; sister, Viola Hernandez; ex-husband, Javier Lopez.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport. The service will be led by Reverend George Hernandez.
