Lloyd Benton Shirley

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lloyd Benton Shirley, 82, of Aransas Pass, Texas. Born in Rockport, Texas to Wesley Y. and Lois Evelyn Shirley on February 21, 1944, Lloyd grew up and lived most of his life in Aransas Pass, Texas.

Lloyd graduated from Aransas Pass High School class of ’62, attended Trinity University on a Football Scholarship 1962-1964. He later married Sheryl (Ford) Shirley on November 11, 1978 enjoying 47 blissful years of marriage.

Lloyd worked in many different areas of Construction for most of his working career.

His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, yard work, wine making, antiquing, garage and estate sales with grandson, a good wine and occasional scotch. and most of all reading and discussing the Bible with family and friends

Lloyd’s personality traits are best described as having a dry sense of humor, loving his family, generous and humble, laid-back and easy going.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sheryl Lynn Shirley, daughters Karley (Billy) Howe and Kristin Lee Shirley, son Kenny (Victoria) Shirley, sister Lois “Sissy” (Mack) Blocker, granddaughters Jade ( Ryan) Rangel, Grace Ann (Jake) Smith, Kensley Marie Shirley, Kyleigh Elise Shirley, Kaelynn Janae Shirley, grandsons Bryce Landen Shirley, Aveory (Stacie) Robinson, Jeremy (Courtney) Howe, Joshua Carleton Howe, and Benton Wayne Shirley, great-granddaughter Chole Jone Robinson, great-grandsons William David Smith, Reed Daniel Rangel, Luke Jonathan Rangel, Kase Conner Rangel and Jace Aveory Robinson along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded by his parents, brothers Wesley Dale and Troy Edward Shirley and his son Kristopher Benton Shirley.

Pallbearers will be Bryce Shirley, Aveory Robinson, Jeremy Howe, Joshua Howe, Michael Dale Shirley and Jason Shirley along with Honorary Pallbearer Grover Shirley.
