Lanny Crosland

October 10, 1972 — September 4, 2020

Rockport

Lanny Samuel Crosland, 47, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 4, 2020, at home surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on October 10, 1972 in San Antonio, Texas to Priscilla Tennis and Malcolm Crosland. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harry and Merle Crosland, and maternal grandparents, Carl and Doris Tennis. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nicole Maxwell Crosland; children, Reese and Riley Crosland; father, Malcolm Crosland and wife Linda; mother, Priscilla Torrens and husband Bill; sister, Michelle Fuentes and children, Aaron, Nick Walker; brother, Tobin Crosland and wife Stacy and children, Brooks, Hadley, Cage; brother, Cody Crosland and wife Rachel and children, Colton and Barret; sister, Chandra Phillips and husband Tim and children, Graydon, Smith, Vera; in-laws, Donna and William Maxwell, his beloved Labradors, Lady Mae and Sweet Tea, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A third generation builder, Lanny owned and operated Crosland Construction since 1993, and spent over 25 years building custom homes and remodels. Many of those years he worked alongside his brothers Tobin and Cody. Many builders know the lingo of the trade but few builders can pick up a tool belt and work alongside sub-contractors in all phases of the home building process. Lanny was a hands on builder who knew building and the construction process having built houses from the ground up.

When he wasn’t building homes, he was sure to be found outdoors, hunting or fishing. He was a lifelong hunter, fisherman, gun enthusiast, an all around outdoorsman who loved being around nature. Lanny hunted everything from deer at his grandparents’ property in South Texas to elk in New Mexico and Colorado to doves in Argentina, and many other places. He was an expert marksman, and he proudly displayed his trophies in his home. He was also a fisherman’s fisherman. He had a natural ability to know fish and where to find them, and he was always excited to share his knowledge about the best spots. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family, bringing Reese and Riley with him starting at a young age.

He was so proud of his kids. A longtime University of Texas fan, his heart began to turn maroon after his baby girl started business school at A&M. He loved watching Riley play football and bantering back and forth with him as only a father and teenage son could do.

Although they didn’t get the lifetime together that they anticipated, Lanny loved his wife Nicole with his whole heart. There was a level of comfortability between them that showed the natural ease of two people who accept each other for who they are and love each other unconditionally. Gone from Earth to his Heavenly home too soon, Lanny will be greatly missed, and will forever be in our hearts. If heaven has fish, he will surely find them.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and to sincerely thank you for your kind expressions of sympathy and generosity at this time.

Lanny’s life celebration will be held Saturday, September 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas.
