Kirk Dee George

April 30, 1935 — March 4, 2026

Ingleside

Kirk George passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the age of 90.

Kirk was born in Tulia, Texas in 1935 to G.C. George and Ruby George. At nineteen, he married Betty “Cookie” George (née Havel). Spending much of his life in the Corpus Christi area, Kirk started Commercial Automotive in 1971, a venture that eventually became Kirk’s Truck Service. Together, Kirk and Betty built a life rooted in love, resilience, and devotion to family. They had three children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren before Betty passed away in 2007.

He married Leilie Bianca in 2010, and they continued visiting with the children and grandchildren and traveling far and wide. She cared for him until his death.

Although a successful business owner and devoted family man, Kirk is best remembered by his loved ones for his extraordinary storytelling ability, his big, booming laugh, and his gifted craftsmanship. Whether he was captivating his grandchildren—and eventually great-grandchildren—around a campfire with tales of the Man with the Golden Arm or La Llorona, building beautiful hope chests and bookshelves with careful hands, organizing treasure hunt adventures, or singing Johnny Cash on the guitar in that rich baritone voice, Kirk leaves behind a legacy of joy and imagination that will be sorely missed.

His presence was undeniable, his humor quick and generous, and his love for family clearly evident. He leaves an inheritance of stories told, traditions shared, and memories that will be carried through generations.

He will be missed by his wife Leilie “Bianca” George (née Bordes) and stepson Raimana “Ray” Bordes; children, Doris Krebs, Karen (Dana) Smith, and Kirk (Kelly) George II; grandkids: Nathan (Britt) Krebs, Karen (Tom) Smith, Dennis (Stephanie) Erwin, Alayna (Jeffrey) Macmillen, John (Hailey) Krebs, Jeremiah (Kristal) Watson, Rachel Erwin, Katie Erwin, and Kirk George III; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
