Kimberly Dawn (Dorsett) Carlson has left her earthly confines to join her mother and father in Heaven. She passed away on August 25, 2024, in Rockport, Texas from an ongoing battle with Hepatic Encephalopathy. Living in Rockport fulfilled her lifelong dream of living at the beach. She was a member of Koenig Lane Christian Church in Austin, TX.
Kim was born on September 12, 1963, and raised in Austin, Texas. She attended John H Reagan and Sidney Lanier High Schools and graduated from Pflugerville High School in 1982. She loved kids and worked at several different schools including La Petite Academy in Austin, Primrose School in Georgetown and eventually in the Georgetown ISD. While working in the billing department of St David's Hospital she met the love of her life, David Carlson. Kim additionally helped individuals find cancer resources at The American Cancer Society.
Kim loved animals, particularly Dachshunds. Kim had the special gift of offering comfort and compassion to those in need and was always available to listen to the concerns of others. She fiercely loved her friends and family. She had a special talent for bringing together and welcoming others into the fold. She was known as the “Funny Cool Aunt” as well a doting “Mimi” to her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, David Carlson; stepson, David Carlson of Arizona; grandchildren, Makenna Carlson, and Caleb Carlson, both in Arizona; brother, Mark (Kimberly) Dorsett of Round Rock, TX; nephews, Corporal Carter Dorsett USMC of Round Rock, TX, HT3 Ty Dorsett USN of Round Rock, TX; sister-in-law ,Jacquelyn Dorsett of Round Rock, TX; niece, Stephanie Hanna (Sean) of Austin, TX; nephews, Vence (Jeni) Salvato of Katy, TX, Bryan Salvato of Round Rock, TX, Robert Lee Dorsett II of Round Rock, TX; great nieces/nephew are Aubrey Salvato, Ainsley Salvato, Vence H Salvato, Penelope Hanna and Emily Hanna; and her Aunt, Mary Caston of Round Rock, TX
Kim joins her father, Robert L Dorsett, her mother, Lita R Dorsett, her brother, Robert “Jeff” Dorsett and her brother-in-law, Kevin Carlson in Heaven.
The family will hold a Memorial Service on October 19th, 2024. Location TBA.
