Captain Kent Douglas Warren, 54, of Ingleside, TX passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. The son of Yvonne Warren and the late Harvey Warren, Kent is also survived by his sister, Kristi Briggs(Lowell) of South Dansville, NY, and his nieces and nephews.

Kent will be remembered for his strong work ethic, lively personality, love of fishing and reading, and happiest days spent on the water as a licensed boat captain. He will be deeply missed by his family, lifelong friends, customers, and fishing companions.

Captain Kent Douglas Warren, 54, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends.

Kent grew up in Ingleside, Texas and was the son of Yvonne Warren and the late Harvey Warren. He is survived by his mother, Yvonne Warren; his sister, Kristi Briggs, and her husband, Lowell; as well as his nieces and nephews, Beverly Penland, Cory Briggs, Leah Briggs, Zac Briggs, and AlecXander Briggs.

Kent was known for his incredible work ethic, his talent for closing a deal, and the energy he brought to everything he did. No one could outwork Kent, and his customers valued him not only for his dedication but also for the fun and personality he brought to their lives. As his customer Terry Jones shared, Kent was simply “so fun to be around.”

Kent’s happiest moments were spent on the water. If someone asked him to go fishing, his answer was always yes. He fished the same way he lived—completely and wholeheartedly. A full box of fish was what Kent proudly called a “slam kill,” and he always seemed to have one more special fishing hole saved for last.

Becoming a licensed boat captain was a dream Kent worked hard to achieve. He respected the boats he piloted and was truly at his best behind the wheel, surrounded by open water. His determination, knowledge, and love of boating were evident to everyone fortunate enough to spend time with him.

Kent also enjoyed playing golf. Although he claimed he was not very good at it, his friends would tell you otherwise. He loved to read as well and appreciated the opportunity to become absorbed in a good book.

Kent shared a special brotherhood with several of his lifelong friends: Matthew Peterson, Matt Dungan, Frank Berryman, Chad Spiegelhoff, and Shane Griffith. Their bond was built over a lifetime, beginning with after-school basketball games in the driveway and continuing through years of adventures, laughter, and treasured memories. They shared more than friendship—they were brothers by choice.

Kent had a famously short fuse when it came to nonsense. He treated people with respect, but he was never afraid to speak his mind. In his younger years, he was “hell on wheels,” and as he grew older, those who knew him often discovered that his impatience was usually justified. His direct nature, lively spirit, sharp humor, and unforgettable stories were all part of what made Kent uniquely Kent.

Kent will be deeply missed by his mother, family, lifelong friends, customers, fishing companions, and everyone whose life was made more interesting by knowing him. Those who loved him find comfort in imagining Kent back on the water, saving the best fishing hole for last and landing the greatest “slam kill” of all.

No formal service will be held. A Celebration of Life honoring Captain Kent will be planned in the near future, with details to be shared at a later date.
