Rockport

Kelvin Dewayne Burks, 61 of Rockport Texas, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2022. He was born in Woodward, Oklahoma to Eddie and Marjorie Burks on April 27, 1961. Kelvin was a graduate of Rockport-Fulton High School and remained a local resident for over 40 years. He was a volunteer Firefighter with the city of Fulton. Kelvin worked for Kiewit Corporation, North America’s largest and most respected engineering, and construction organizations as a supervisor, responsible for the construction of multiple offshore oil drilling rigs for over 15 years. Like many others, he could be found fishing near the Jetties in Port Aransas or on the hunt for the next white-tailed buck roaming the woods in our little coastal town. Although he never beat his son in a game, he spent most evenings in a Dart League, with friends he often called brothers. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward “Eddie” Burks, and brother, Leroy Burks. Kelvin is survived by his mother Marjorie Price, his son Calvin Burks of Rockport Texas, his three beautiful grandchildren, Cailyn, Landan, and Charlie Burks, his brother Brad Saathoff, his sister Cindi Jones, his brother and sister-in-law Brian & Margaret Burks of Rockport Texas, Aunt and Uncles and multiple nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at the Jetties in Port Aransas on the 18th of August 2022, at 7:00 pm. Family and Friends are invited, come as you are. We welcome you to celebrate with us and share in this special moment as we return to Kelvin’s favorite fishing spot, for the last time.
