Obituary

Katherine Jeanne (Brown) Ellis of Lamar, Texas passed away August 23, 2026 at their residence surrounded by their loving family.

Mrs. Ellis was born on May 6, 1946 in Tyler, Texas to John L. and Frankie L (Crim) Brown.

She lived in various locations in Texas, since her father was a geologist and his work required relocations from time to time. She primarily grew up in Odessa, Texas, then in Mansfield, Texas for 19 years , then to their residence in Rockport (Lamar) for the last 16 years.

She graduated from  Permian High School in Odessa, Texas in 1964. Attended Odessa Junior College where she obtained an Associates Degree in Accounting.

She married Robert W. Ellis on April 24, 1965 at Odessa, Texas and enjoyed 61 years of blissful marriage.

Her favorite pastimes and passions were Ballet,  she was an instructor at a Ballet school in Odessa, was an avid gardener, loved being outside with her hands in the dirt and was a member of the Rockport Gardening Club, dabbled in painting, a wonderful cook.  She enjoyed the outdoors and wildlife that their home in Lamar provided, was  a wonderful mother and wife, she preferred shades of red and deep orange, loved a variety of different ethnic foods such as Mexican, Italian, and other foods of Texas that her mother in law taught her to cook.

 She had the patience like no other person we knew, never spoke ill of others, did not curse, and was always respectful even in adverse circumstances. She believed in Jesus Christ as the son of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frankie Brown and two brothers, Robert and William Brown.

Left to cherish her memory are husband Robert W. Ellis, her son Derek W. Ellis, Daughter-in-law Sara Ellis, grandchildren Tracy Nicole Ellis, Amy (Ellis) Charrette, and Tammi Celeste Ellis, Great Granddaughters Elizabeth Rose Charrette, Emmaline Marie Charrette, and Evangelene Summer Charrette along with sisters Priscilla O’Malley and Lisa Milner and brother David Brown.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial gathering for family and close friends this fall.
