Jose Miguel Vasquez, lovingly known as “Fat Joe,” passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 40.
Joe was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Mariana Hernandez Zaragoza and later grew up in Aransas Pass, where he built a life centered on love, family, and lasting memories. He was a man who found joy in life’s simplest moments, backyard BBQs, watching football, going on dates, and spending time with his beloved dog, Pepper.
In 2020, Joe reconnected with the love of his life, April Vasquez. Their bond quickly grew into a beautiful marriage on September 24, 2021. Together, they shared a deep love and companionship that remained at the center of Joe’s world.
Joe was known for his unforgettable personality his humor, his storytelling, and the big smile that could light up any room. He had a well-known sweet tooth and true to who he was, never turned down a good plate of food. More than anything, Joe cherished his family. His love for his wife, grandmother, mother, brother, children, and extended family was unwavering.
He is survived by his loving wife, April Vasquez; his grandmother, Siliviana; his mother, Mariana Zaragoza; his stepfather, Rodolfo Hernandez; his brother, Israel Zaragoza; his two sons, Julian Vasquez and Jaydon Vasquez; his cherished dog, Pepper; as well as many nieces, nephews, and loved ones, including his bonus brother, Joshua Wellesley.
Joe will be remembered for his laughter, his stories, and the deep love he shared with everyone around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 10am-8pm. The Funeral Service will on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 10am. Graveside will follow at Prairie View Cemetery.
