Jose B. Martinez, Jr., age 79, of Rockport, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025.
He was born on February 22, 1946, to Jose Castillo Martinez and Erlinda Benavidez Martinez. A proud veteran, Jose served honorably in the United States Army, including active duty during the Vietnam War, earning numerous medals and commendations for his bravery and service.
Jose was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He married the love of his life, Linda C. Rinche, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and lasting friendships.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Castillo and Erlinda Benavidez Martinez; brothers Fernando “Javo” Martinez and Gilberto “Bebo” Martinez; sisters Mary Ramirez and Dora Sweat; and great-grandson Zeke Albert Martinez.
Jose is survived by his loving wife, Linda C. Rinche-Martinez; sons Larry Albert (Becky) and Izzidro “Izzi” Albert Martinez of Corpus Christi; and Jose “Joey” R. Martinez. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Maricella (Jalain) Mott, Jose R. (Danielle) Martinez, and Erika Martinez; great-grandchildren: Jalain and Karianne Mott, and Coastlynn Martinez.
He is also survived by his sisters, Ermalinda “Erma”(Adolph) Gonzales and Janie (Samuel) Martinez Almanza; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and best friends who were more like brothers to him.
Jose will be remembered most for his deep love of family and friends, his unwavering work ethic, and his passion for the outdoors. Throughout his life, Jose held leadership roles in both management and self-employment, eventually retiring from Aransas County ISD. In retirement, he embraced life fully cherishing time with his sons, grandchildren, sisters, and closest friends. Whether he was hunting, barbecuing, offering a helping hand, or sharing stories of the good old days, Jose brought warmth, laughter, and love to every moment. He was a man who made memories wherever he went and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and deep connection.
Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m. September 11, 2025 at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Rockport, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 12, 2025, at Sacred Heart Church in Rockport, Texas.
Jose's legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
