Jordan Fisher

March 4, 1970 — March 2, 2021

Rockport

Jordan Jay Fisher, 50, passed away March 2, 2021 in Key West, Florida. She was born March 4, 1970 in Houston, Texas to James Ray and Sandra Herod Jay.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John E. and Lena M. Jay; maternal grandparents, Ellis B. and Audrey Herod; and sister, Stephanie Jay Hill.

Jordan leaves behind her adoring husband, Terry Fisher, and sons, Grayson and Camden Fisher of Rockport, Texas; parents, James Ray Jay of Floresville, Texas and Sandra Nell Herod Jay of Rockport, Texas; and sister, Sarah Middleton Jay. Her vivacious personality will be missed by family members and friends.

Jordan graduated from Rockport High School in 1988. After graduating from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television and Film, Jordan worked for radio stations in San Antonio. She subsequently went to work as Promotions Coordinator for the San Antonio Spurs. After being recruited by the American Cancer Society, Jordan worked as Assistant Director of Development where, among other things, she organized the Relay For Life event which produced the highest net income of a first year event in San Antonio history. She designed the strategy which successfully recruited country music legend, George Strait and his wife as the Relay for Life Honorary Chairman in San Antonio. Jordan was promoted and transferred to District Director in San Diego where she roller skated to the beach in between managing the budget and day-to-day operations of the American Cancer Society’s largest district in the Border Region in California.

Among other professional positions she served as the Public Relations Manager for Westin La Cantera Resort and Marketing and Public Relations for the San Antonio Zoo where she met the love of her life who she would marry in November 2000. She continued to work, however, inspiring others and making a difference in the lives of others. She was the Event Planner and Public Relations Manager for Outside the Box Events for 4 years before moving to Symphonic Financial Affairs where she provided customer service for over 50 wealth management clients in the Coastal Bend. With all of these many accomplishments, Jordan’s most cherished, most important and most favorite part of life was being a Mother to her wonderful boys, Grayson and Camden, whom she dearly loved. Not many conversations excluded a mention of her love and devotion for them and Terry.

Jordan and Terry returned to Rockport in 2007. After serving as a Founding Partner for Oak Hills Church Adoption Ministry in San Antonio, Jordan became involved in the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church in Rockport. She was a very involved member of the Rockport-Fulton YMCA Planning Committee and graduated from the Leadership Aransas County Class XIII. She taught subsequent LAC classes and organized events for the Rockport Chamber of Commerce. In 2007 Jordan & Terry joined Coastal Oaks Church where Jordan served on both Children’s and Ladies Ministry Teams. She also volunteered at Community Table, Vacation Bible School and was an active Bay Blazer.

Jordan lit up a room when she entered with her smile and her kind and gentle nature. She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece and friend. She had a soft spot for animals and was often rescuing and nursing them back to health. Jordan was a faithful servant of Christ and loved working in the nursery of her church. She held onto her favorite scripture, “For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear, I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13

She loved dressing up and was always a classy lady. Her favorite hobbies were going out to eat (think lobsters and bananas foster), spending time with her family anytime and anywhere, traveling and scuba diving. She and her friends spent many hours at the gym where they pretended to work out before going for coffee and donuts.
