John Joe Cieslewicz Jr. of Rockport passed away on his birthday, July 7 at the age of 76. He was born in El Campo, TX on July 7, 1949 to John Cieslewicz and Pauline Kaspar. John was a graduate of Ganado High School and briefly attended the University of Texas before he returned home to help his mother after the untimely death of his father at an early age.
John married Joyce Peterek in Ganado, TX on September 20, 1969. They raised two children in Ganado and owned J&J convenient store for 31 years. In 2005, they moved to Rockport and opened J&J car wash. Throughout his life, John enjoyed the outdoors, and moving to Rockport was a perfect way for him to spend more time outdoors with his friends and family. Earlier in life, you would find him chasing a golf ball in his spare time and had many fond memories of those days.
John served his community wherever he lived. In Ganado, he was a member of the Ganado Volunteer Fire Department and served on the Ganado ISD Board of Trustees. In Rockport, he served as a lector and eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
